LAHORE - The Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust arranged an event to mark the platinum jubilee of Nawa-i-Waqt at the Aiwan-i- Karkunan-i- Tehreek-i-Pakistan Monday.

Cutting the cake, the staff reiterated their resolve to continue with the mission of Hamid Nizami. Paying tribute to legend Majid Nizami, the speakers stressed the need for following his principles to serve the journalism. Laying foundation of the paper seventy five years ago, Hameed Nizami started the struggle on the directives of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. After his death, Majid Nizami carried forward the mission, it was recalled.

In his presidential address, Tarar highlighted importance of freedom and laid stress on following the footsteps of Pakistan Movement workers.

Justice (r) Aftab Farrukh said the Pakistan Day reminds the nation of pledge to make Pakistan prosperous. Maulana Ameer Hamza observed that the Quaid-i-Azam wanted to make Pakistan a laboratory where the Islamic tenets would be tested and tried for the benefit of the entire world. Begum Mehnaz Rafi stressed the need for forging unity for national development. Prof Dr Parveen Khan counted sacrifices.

Dr Bashir Ahmad Maan saw progress through following the principles Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinna.

Prof Dr MA Sufi said the Pakistan is a gift from Allah. Since the Muslims were a different nation from the Hindus, they deserved their own state.

Col (r) Saleem Malik said that a right kind of leadership can lead us to peace and progress.

The Pakistan Movement workers Fida Ahmad Kardar, MK Anwar Baghdadi, Anwar Hussain Qadri and Dr Ashraf Nizami also shared their views with the audience.

Shahid Rasheed observed that the Lahore Resolution reinterred teg reminds us for our pledge to effect the geographical and ideological completion of Pakistan.
