Hindu leaders from across the country have rejected the proposed Hindu Marriage Bill, saying they will further be divided if the parliament adopted the bill.

A Hindu Jirga, which deliberated for 13 hours on the contour of the proposed bill in Krihna Mandir here and unanimously rejected the proposition, saying it was a conspiracy to further divide the Hindu minority in the country.

The Jirga said that if the bill was adopted, it will create further problems for the Hindus, who were already facing immense problems in practicing their religion freely.

Pandit Vishnu Ram, Thakar Ram, Sangram Das, Prema Ram and other Hindu leaders who attended the Jirga said that a formal application would be forwarded to the parliament to withdraw the proposed bill, which may have far-reaching implications for the Hindus living across the country.
