Islamabad - Over 100 local and foreign students in the field of medical education would appear in MD, MS, MDS exams (equivalent to PHD) to be held under auspices of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZBAMU) on Tuesday.

Students who had completed their five-year clinical training and successfully got approved there research thesis from external examiners, specialists of their respective medical field, were allowed to sit in the biggest public sector medical exam being organised by the SZABMU.

Vice Chancellor of SZABMU Prof. Javed Akram while talking to reporters after inspecting the arrangements for the examination said: “We are holding competitive medical examination which indicates SZABMU examination standards are at par with any national or international medical educational degree awarding institution.”

“There is no leakage of paper, no copy pasted papers from any other institution and there are no loopholes in our examination system and holding of this exam on Tuesday March 24 indicates our success and proving our worth in Pakistan in the field of modern medical education,” Prof Akram noted in his brief remarks.

Prof. Javed Akram noted that students from Yemen, Nepal, Afghanistan and Iran would also appear in the exams of the only medical university of the federal government. Prof Akram also appreciated the hard work of the examination department and praised the transparency and secrecy maintained for conducting the exam.

The vice chancellor remarked that to completely secure the medical university’s examination department, “we will soon purchase our own printing press to ensure complete secrecy in printing of examination papers.”

Meanwhile, Prof. Akram said that students would also appear in M.Phil in Basic Sciences, including diplomas in Child Health, Gynae and Obstetrics. He said that all these students were allowed to sit in the examination after recommendations and approval from the Advanced Study and Research Board - the body of university comprising professors of almost all the departments which evaluate all the thesis reviewed by the external examiners.

While sharing the names of few specialties Prof Javed Akram said that students would appear in Neuro Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Urology, Accident and Emergency, Oral and Maxofaical Surgery, Nephrology, Pediatric Medicine, General Medicine, Gastronotology, Histo Pathology, Cardiology, Oncology and few other subjects.
