SHIKARPUR - Shikarpur police have recovered a kidnappee after an encounter at Katcha area of Naparkot Police Station here the other day. Addressing a press conference at Senior Superintendent of Police Office, Shikarpur SSP Nasir Aftab Khattak said during routine patrolling, police saw three persons riding a motorcyclist.

On suspicion, police chased them but they opened fire on the police. After retaliation, police have recovered a kidnappee identified as Irfan Suhito, 25, resident of Sobho Dero Town, Taluka Rani Pur, district Khairpur Mirs. He was kidnapped five months ago from Rani Pur. Taking advantage of darkness, the two armed culprits fled from the scene. One kidnapper received bullet injuries. The SSP further said the kidnappers had demanded ransom money of Rs1 million rupees from the abductee relatives.

Irfan Suhito told the journalists that he had received a phone call of a woman. He went to meet her in Rani Pur where some armed men kidnapped him at gunpoint and shifted to Katcha area.

Khattak appealed to the people that they should not respond to such phone calls. Recovered Irfan Suhito was handed over to their heirs after necessary formalities.

Moreover, three labourers received severe injuries in a road accident at Jacobabad-Shikarpur Indus highway, some 10 kilometres from here the other day.

The labourers identified as Kashif, Amjad and Abdul Wahid belonged to Soomro caste. They were driving a tractor trolley when another speeding tractor trolley coming from Sultankot towards Shikarpur overturned. The area police shifted the injured to Shikarpur district headquarter hospital where their condition is stable, according to duty doctor.

Meanwhile, the Garhi Yasin police claimed to have arrested two notorious criminals after an encounter at the Kheerthar Canal within the jurisdictions of Garhi Yasin Police Station.

Police have arrested two notorious bandits identified as Shahnawaz aka Jhandi Brohi and Imam Bakhsh aka Mullan Marfani. They were going somewhere from Tehsil Garhi Yasin when police chased them on a tip-off and managed to arrest after a brief encounter. Police have recovered weapons and a motorcycle from their possession, it claimed.

It further claimed that the arrested bandits were involved in more than 25 heinous cases including murder, encounter with the police and kidnapping for ransom. Cases were registered against them with many police stations of district Shikarpur.

According to the locals Shahnawaz aka Jhandi Brohi has left committing crimes a couple of years back and was currently on bail. The arrested bandits were kept in Garhi Yasin Police Station.


A woman was shot dead by her husband over Karo Kari at village Ismail Badani near Rustam Town.

According to details, a woman identified as Surhal was gunned down by her husband namely Rasool Bakhsh on pretext of Karo Kari with the neighbour namely Nazeer Panhwar. After committing the crime accused Rasool Bakhsh fled from the crime scene. After passage of five hours, the area police officials reached the spot and handed the body over to her heirs after conducting autopsy from a local hospital.

On the other hand, after her killing, rumors spread in the village Ismail Badani that she was killed over an old enmity. The FIR was not registered till this story was filed. Further investigation is underway.
