PHA spends Rs150m on uplift of Shah Shams Park

MULTAN: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) will spend Rs150 million on the improvement of recreational facilities at Shah Shams Park. While talking to this agency here on Wednesday, PHA DG Kousar Khan stated that the authority is working on improvement of 69 parks in the city including Shah Shams Park. She informed that the PHA would set up one golf ground, one general playground, attractive landscaping, lake and latest swings for kids at city’s main Shah Shams Park.
She informed that they are also working on Bagh Langay Khan and Aam Khas Bagh to restore their historical stature. Proposals for funding to these parks have also been sent to the government, she added. However, Public Private Partnership is also being encouraged for the renovation of different parks.
Private companies would be allowed to invest in the parks for the provision of more recreational facilities to the visitors. About establishment of another amusement park at Fort Qasim, she observed that notices to the Auqaf Department, Archaeology Department and some others have been sent to vacate the buildings, situated at the Fort. The PHA would make amusement park at the site and the historical place would look more beautiful in near future, she claimed. Slopes of the Fort Qasim would be made more attractive, in line with beautification plan of city. About PHA’s performance, She claimed that over 60,000 flowering plants have been installed from Airport to Eidgah via Chungi Number-1, Nishtar Chowk, High Court, Kalma Chowk, Katchehry Chowk, Chungi Number-9 and similarly, Nawan Shehr Chowk.
It is first time in city’s history that huge number of flowering plants has been planted. “Flowers carpeting have also been done at Fort Qasim. We are also planning to arrange Flower show at Fort Qasim and Shah Shams Park, she stated.” The DG claimed that working of PHA would be worth seeing at Metro Bus Route. Plenty of plantation would be done along Metro Bus Route which surely promote greenery in the city. To a query about shortage of staff, Kousar Khan informed that PHA would recruit 50 gardeners and 10 sweepers.–APP
