Rawalpindi  -A large number of traders and residents yesterday registered their strong protest against Ganjmandi police for not arresting the dacoits who shot and injured a shopkeeper over resistance.

The charged protestors chanted slogans against SP Malik Muhammad Iqbal, DSP Sardar Babar Mumtaz, and SHO Police Station Ganjmandi Raja Saleem and demanded action against them.

According to details, more than 250 protestors assembled outside PS Ganjmandi and staged protest demonstration. They also blocked the road by torching old tyres. The commuters and pedestrians faced immense hardships because of road blockage for almost three hours.

The protestors criticised police for their inaction against rising number of robberies and thefts in different markets of Raja Bazaar.

Two days ago, three armed dacoits stormed into a cellphone shop owned by Hamza Abbasi near the police station. They looted cash Rs 50,000 and mobile phone sets and shot injured the shopkeeper over resistance. Abbasi received bullet into his back and went unconscious. Till filing of this report, Abbasi’s condition in the hospital was critical.
