Two persons drowned when a boat carrying 22 devotees, capsized in Mangla Dam here on Wednesday, the police said.

The police informed that the ferry was carrying about 22 devotees from Mirpur for the Urs of a religious saint. All of sudden it capsized in the Mangla Dam reservoir near Bohar Colony apparently due to overloading. The police claimed that 20 devotes were immediately rescued by police and rescuers of Rescue 1122.

Those dead were identified as Muhammad Shoukat, a retired employee of AJK Animal Husbandry Department and Haroon Asghar. The Thothal Police have arrested the boatman and launched further investigation.
