Court issues more warrants for Rizvi, others in Faizabad cases

An anti-terrorism court on Saturday issued arrest warrants for Tehreek-e-Labbaik's Khadim Hussain Rizvi in five more cases at Islamabad’s I-9 police station.

According to details, the arrest warrants for Khadim Hussain Rizvi and others absconding suspects were issued in the cases filed during Faizabad sit-in and the police had obtained their arrest warrants from the anti-terrorism court and other courts.

Charges of involvement in terror activities are included in the warrant.

Earlier on March 20, the anti-terrorism court issued non-bailable warrants for Rizvi and two others in Faizabad sit-in case.

On November 6, 2017, workers of TL and activists of other religious groups staged a sit-in at the Faizabad Interchange in Islamabad against the amendments in the declarations of elected representatives, virtually paralysing the twin cities for more than two weeks.

Police and Frontier Constabulary personnel had launched an operation against the protesters after the high court had ordered the clearance of the bridge that connects the federal capital with Rawalpindi. Later, the TL workers left after striking an agreement with the government.
