ISLAMABAD - Former president Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday said that Pakistan People’s Party was the founder of the country’s nuclear programme.

In a message, he felicitated the nation on Pakistan Day. Zardari said that on this day we should pay homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country.

“Today is the day to reiterate our resolve to follow the ideology and philosophy of the founder of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto taught us to love our country. The country cannot forget the leaders who gave the nation the nuclear and missile technology,” he said.

Zardari said that the thinking of hatred and vendetta had harmed the country. “The country is also harmed by imposing rulers without the will of the people. We have to treat all units of Pakistan equally and this is the recipe of a strong, stable and developed Pakistan,” he said.

The PPP co-Chairman said the state would be strengthened by following the Constitution.

“The 18th amendment in the Constitution is the assurance for stable and strong Pakistan with an inclusive federation,” he said.
