Qureshi says meeting with Indian counterpart in Tajikistan cannot be ruled out

ISLAMABAD - Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Tuesday rejected Indian media reports that Pakistan had requested a formal meeting with Indian external affairs Minister J Shanakar in Tajik capital Dushanbe.

Pakistani and Indian foreign Ministers would face each other in the Heart of Asia Conference to be held in Dushanbe from March 29-30.

Indian media claimed that Pakistan had requested for a meeting with Indian foreign Minister J Shanakar on the sidelines of the Heart of Asia Conference, being hosted by Tajikistan "Pakistan has not requested India for any formal meeting with Indian foreign Minister on the sidelines", Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told The Nation. He confirmed that he would be attending the Heart of Asia Conference which would focus on Afghanistan. The foreign Minister said he would meet the participants on the sidelines of the conference and a meeting with Indian External affairs Minister could not be ruled out but Pakistan had not requested any formal meeting.
