On Wednesday, Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed the plea filed by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani against election of Sadiq Sanjrani as Chairman Senate.
Announcing the reserved verdict, Chief Justice Islamabad High Court (IHC) hoped that the supremacy of Parliament will be ensured and parliament’s issues would be resolved in parliament.
The verdict further said that the court cannot intervene in the parliamentary affairs under Article 69 of the constitution.
The petition, which was filed by lawyer of PPP candidate for Chairmanship of upper house of the parliament, stated that rejection of seven votes of Yousaf Raza Gillani was illegal.
Earlier, PPP had also prayed the court to nullify the rejection of votes and declare former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani as Chairman Senate.
