Bahawalpur - The Islamia University of Bahawalpur on Wednesday organised Inter-Universities Consortium on “Climate Change, Sustainability and Conservation”.
Climate change is affecting every person in every country on every continent. It is disrupting national economies and affecting lives, costing people, communities, and countries dearly today and even more tomorrow.
“By addressing the environmental issues and conserving the natural environment we can build a sustainable world for everyone.
But we need to act now,” said speakers during a consortium organised by Islamia University of Bahawalpur on “Climate Change, Sustainability and Conservation”.
This consortium was based on the vision of the Vice-Chancellor of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Engr Prof Dr Athar Mahboob who always emphasizes the crucial role of universities beyond knowledge production in resolving the core issues of society and people.
In addition, the objectives of this event were aligned with the vision of Prof Dr Shazia Anjum, Dean Faculty of Sciences, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, and the patron of this consortium to train the students to serve the community for building a better world.
The Vice-Chancellor Engr Prof Dr Athar Mahboob said that in the first phase of response to climate call, IUB has successfully launched the intra- university plan of action. Following this agenda, IUB has taken several initiatives to reflect the climate-smart practices on campus.

Sadiq College women University Bahawalpur Prof. Dr. Saiqa Imtiaz Asif, Vice Chancellor, Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, Prof. Dr. Mansoor Akbar Kundi, Vice Chancellor, University of Baltistan, Prof. Dr. Naeem Khan, Vice Chancellor, Ghazi University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail, renowned scientists and distinguished researchers in their respective. Dr Ashiq Ahmad Khan is an award-winning Scientific Representative of Ev-K2-CNR. Dr Abid is Executive Director at Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), member of Economic Advisory Council, National Advisory Council of Planning Commission of Pakistan, and Pakistan Climate Change Council. Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad Chatta, the Program Chair, Climate Change of Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Agriculture and Food Security is a well-known scientist in the field of Agro-climatology. Prof. Dr Sher Muhammad, the International International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development-Nepal is the remote sensing specialist working in High Mountain Asia in connection with climate change and water resources.
