Quaid Pakistan Muslim League, Mian Nawaz Sharif has urged the government to seek assistance of China for the construction of alternative roads and to invite private companies for starting of helicopter service in Hunza to transport people from the affected area. Addressing to affected people of Hunza here on Monday, Quaid PML-N said that China has the expertise and experience in dealing with such catastrophes. The former Prime Minister said that trade with China is highly dependant on the Korakorum Highway and alternative roads are badly needed. He emphasized that the government should invite private companies to start helicopter service to transport people from his area, adding big boats should also be used and all this process should be done on an emergency basis. Mian Nawaz Sharif said that all provincial governments alongwith the private sector should make their contribution. He recalled that PML-N was the first party, which took notice of the situation in Hunza. He said that PML-N sent relief goods to the affected areas. Expressing his grief and sorrow over the damage, Mian Nawaz Sharif said: " I met some women and children affected by the disaster, many people have lost members of their families". He announced that all families who have lost members of their families will be given to 0.5 million each as promised by Chief Minister Punjab. Mian Nawaz Sharif said that children have been asked to come to Punjab, Rawalpindi specially, where they will be looked after. He also urged philanthropists to help the affected people in their difficult time. Earlier Talking to media men here on his arrival, Quaid PML-N said that the people of Pakistan are with their brethrens of Hunza and the nation is eying on the issue of rehabilitation of affectees of Hunza Lake victims. Quaid PML-N emphasized that necessary steps should be taken for the rehabilitation of the affected people and shelters should also be provided to them. He said that there is dire need to provide relief to affected people at the earliest. Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif while announcing an amount of Rs. 100 million for Hunza Lake victims pledged that more aid would be provided to the affected people. Talking to media in Gilgit, CM Punjab said that he is in contact with Chief Minster Gilgit-Baltistan Mehdi Shah regarding providing relief to the affected people. The CM Punjab said that the Punjab Government would take every step to help the affected people of Hunza, adding the local administration would provide the list of items badly needed for the affected people. Earlier, Quaid PML-N and Chief Minister Punjab upon arrival in Gilgit were received by Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Dr. Shahma Khalid and CM Mehdi Shah at Gilgit Airport. Leaders of PML-N including Raja Zafar-ul-Haq also accompanied Quaid PML-N and CM Punjab. PML-N leaders arrived at Gilgit at 11 am at the airport and were given a briefing regarding latest situation and losses faced by people.
