KARACHI - Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik on Sunday vowed zero tolerance against violation of law and order and the culprits involved in the target killings. Talking to the journalists after meeting with the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to discuss the recent target killing incidents in the metropolis, he pointed out that under a well-planned conspiracy, worst law and order situation and unrest were being created in the metropolis. The chaos and violence in the country was a part of ongoing conspiracy to destabilise the country. Any attempts to destroy peace and law and order situation of Karachi will be crushed. No one will be allowed to destroy the peace of Karachi and violators would be dealt with iron hand, he added. Malik said that government was taking steps to improve the intelligence system at district, Tehsil and police station level across the province including Karachi. He said that the issue of Karachi was very typical and the government was taking all necessary steps to improve the longstanding issue of Karachi. All of us want to see peace and an end of the consecutives incidents of target killings in Karachi. He mentioned that there were less chances to improve the law and order situation of the metropolis, unless all the stakeholders join hands against the miscreants. Malik said that both MQM and ANP were agreed not to give provoking statements against each other. He informed that special powers conferred upon the Rangers to control the target killing incidents and maintain peace. Their powers are extended to three months period. He said that police and rangers would work together to control law and order situation in the City. This is the responsibility of every citizen to inform the law enforcement agencies if they are aware of any miscreants involved in the target killing incidents. The interior minister declared that anyone who provides information about the culprits involved in the target killing incidents would be given Rs10 million as reward. Malik said that anti-state elements killed the activists of PPP and other political parties to create violence and chaos. On this occasion, Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah thanked Governor Sindh Ishratul Ebad, Federal Minister Rehman Malik, MQM and ANP for their cooperation to maintain the law and order situation of Karachi. He said that provincial government was striving to control the law and order situation of the metropolis with the cooperation of federal government and allied parties.
