LAHORE - Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Middlesex University (UK) Prof Waqar Ahmad and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr R Gill on Monday visited the Punjab University to discuss mutual collaboration. They also met with Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran. Director External Linkages Maria Maldonado had arranged this meeting. Registrar Prof Dr Muhammad Akhtar, Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar, Prof Dr Muhammad Hafeez, Prof Dr Javed Ahmed and others were also present. The vice-chancellor briefed the visiting team about the various departments in the Punjab University, ongoing academic, research and PhD programmes, and improvement of PU position in HEC ranking, recently. Prof Waqar Ahmad, while appreciating the research activities at the PU, said The Middlesex University values the relations and mutual collaboration with varsities of other countries. He said as many as six thousand Pakistani students have completed their education at Middlesex University in few years. He wished to extend student and faculty exchange programme in various areas with the Punjab University. Prof Dr Muhammad Hafeez said it was an opportunity to enhance faculty development and students exchange programme with the Middlesex University. Prof Waqar Ahmad said collaboration in the field of criminology could be established. STUDENTS WIN: A student team of the Punjab Universitys Department of Electrical Engineering comprising Arsalan Ahmad and Asim Abbas has won the second position in MATLAB Programming competition held at University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore. Lecturer Umer Farooq supervised the students in the contest. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has congratulated Prof Dr Javaid Ahmad, Prof Dr Rafique Ahmad, Umar Farooq and students on this success. RESULTS: Punjab University Examinations Department has announced the results of MSc Statistics, Geography, Applied Psychology, and MA Punjabi, Philosophy and Persian, Part-II, Supplementary Examination 2010.
