ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has convened the meeting of Defence Committee of the Cabinet on May 25th to review and redefine the parameters of national security in the backdrop of Abbottabad debacle and the recent breaches of the defence lines of the countrys apex military installations. The meeting which would be attended by the heads of Armed Forces and national security institutions, Defence Minister, Interior Minister, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Finance Minister and other members of the committee would review the overall security situation in the country with recent spate of terrorist acts following the Abbottabad fiasco. Sources in the government informed that the committee would likely discuss the names proposed by Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) for the independent commission to probe the Abbottabad intelligence and defence failures. Sources further said that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani would also take the input of the services chiefs on the formation of the independent commission and would ask to propose the names to cover the technical and tactical aspects of the matter. Sources further said that overall security measures, especially in the post Osama Bin Laden elimination scenario, would came under discussion and obviously the breach into the Naval Base in Karachi by terrorists would came under review. They that the strained relations with United States and its impact on the war on terror would also figure in the meeting and both military and political leadership would discuss the ways and means to spruce up the overall security and intelligence network across the country so that the terrorists activities would be crushed down effectively. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani constantly remained in touch with the security authorities regarding the clearing up operation at PNS Mehran, after some terrorists managed to sneak into the naval base. Gilani contacted the Naval Chief Admiral Nouman Bashir early in the morning, who informed that the drive was moving in right direction and soon the naval security forces will have complete control over the situation. Prime Minister said that Pakistan would not be deterred by such acts and would continue to target the terrorists till their complete elimination from the country.
