DEPALPUR - Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Mian Manzoor Wattoo has said that in the budget for new financial year 2011-12 a number of development schemes will be proposed to improve the standard of living of people in district Okara. A number of dams and power generation projects have been nearing completion which will help the power availability situation in the country. Mian Manzoor Wattoo was speaking at the inauguration of sui gas supply scheme to Koieko Bhalwal here Tehsil Depalpur the other day. On the occasion, people of the area thanked the Federal Minister for his vision and services rendered for the welfare of people of Depalpur in particular and Okara in general. Speaking at the ceremony, the federal minister appreciated the efforts of Prime Minister Gilani and President Zadari who made it possible for him to inaugurate the gas supply scheme. He said round-the-clock availability of sui gas would be ensured to facilitate the industry around Okara so that people of his constituency may have more jobs than the previous years. About energy crisis, he said that a number of projects were being underway which would help overcome energy crisis. Manoor Wattoo said the relation with other countries would be maintained without compromising the security and sovereignty of Pakistan. The federal minister said that he would spare no effort for the development of the area and prosperity of its people. Afterwards, he joined the general public and had light discussion with them. On the occasion, he warned that the exploitation of the farmers at the hands of provincial food departments would be tolerated. He said in the next fiscal year 1500-km roads in his constituency would be carpeted to facilitate the commuters. He said that from each union council 10 deserving students would be selected for scholarships and jobs. He informed the gathering that people from all political and social back grounds would be given sui gas connections.
