MIRPUR (AJK) - PPP AJK Chief and leader of opposition in sitting Azad Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Abdul Majeed here Monday declared that his party awaits the landslide triumph in the scheduled June 26 AJK general elections as all is set to field the PPP candidates in all 41 seats of AJK legislature in the elections, he declared, reports The Nation AJK Staffer AH Rao on Monday. Addressing emergent crowded news conference here in local hotel, Majeed asserted following the increased popularity graph of PPP among masses both across Pakistan and AJK, the party will emerge as the single majority party by winning two/third 2/3 majority seats in the 49-seat AJK legislative Assembly to form the next government in AJK. Scores of leading personalities including a retired district & Session Judge Ch Ashiq Hussain and retired Project Manager of AJK govt Mirza Muhammad Akram announced on this occasion joining Pakistan Peoples Party AJK along with hundreds of their colleagues. The new comers elders of Islamgarh (Mirpur) constituency including retired Judge Ch Ashiq Hussain and Mirza Muhammad Akram on this occasion reposed full confidence in the people-friendly policies of the incumbent PPP-led popular coalition government in Pakistan under the dynamic leadership of President of Pakistan and Co-Chairperson of the Party Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani as well the President of PPP, AJK chapter Ch Abdul Majeed. They vowed to lend all of their potential and services to make the PPP successful in AJK elections. Leaders of Markazi Jammiat Ulema-e-Jammu & Kashmir including its President Mufti Muhammad Waseem Raza and Sahibzada Muhammad Ilyas Qadri also announced on the occasion to formally join hands with the PPP to make it triumphant with a thumping majority in the forthcoming AJK Assembly elections. The top leaders of the eminent religious party reposed full confidence in all the policies of PPP. The religious leaders said that they were admirer of Shaheed Zulifiqar Ali Bhutto for his historic decision of declaring Qadianis /Ahmedies the non-Muslims. Speaking on the occasion, PPP AJK Chief Ch Majeed welcomed the new comers in the party and expressed the hope that their arrival in the partys fold would strengthen the party ranks besides getting it embraced with the blessing of the required success in the coming AJK polls. Majeed said that since only the PPP was the strong symbol and guarantee of the complete solidarity, integrity and federation of Pakistan, the incumbent PPP-led coalition government was sincerely acting upon the policy of reconciliation and reconciliation under the dynamic leadership of the partys co-chairperson and President Asif Zardari to maintain the complete cohesion and solidarity among all sections of the society across the country. Referring to the forthcoming general elections in Azad Jammu Kashmir, he said that the coming elections to the AJK legislature will be of exceptional importance in view of the existing global scenario which was seeking early peaceful settlement of the Kashmir problem. The PPP AJK chief revealed that since there was complete unity and harmony in the PPP AJK, the party has also so far succeeded in mustering the fullest support of the sitting member AJK Assembly and Jammiat Ulema-e-Jammu Kashmir Chief Sahibzada Attiqur Rehman and Tehreek-e-Millit Organization of Jammu Kashmir led by Syed Mahmood Bukhari in the forthcoming AJK Assembly elections to bring the party (PPP) in to power with a thumping majority. He said that the sanctity of the territory of Azad Jammu Kashmir being the base camp of the Kashmir freedom struggle will be maintained in all circumstances. Ch Majeed warned that AJK will be maintained as the base camp of the freedom struggle in letter and spirit and any attempt by the sitting AJK rulers to convert the liberated territory into the Neelam Ghar (Auction House) will be frustrated. The PPP leader further said that foreign independent observers including those from India will be invited to monitor the forthcoming AJK Legislative Assembly elections to assess their credibility. He said that India was denying Kashmiris their birth right to self determination by staging so-called elections drama in Indian held Jammu & Kashmir. He said that the coming AJK polls will be of extra ordinary importance which, after having been elected through free, fair and impartial elections, shall have to perform an active role in the dialogue process to ventilate the view point of Kashmiris, vis--vis early solution of Kashmir issue, at the base camp of the freedom struggle being the elected representative house of the people of Jammu & Kashmir state, he added.
