Police arrest accused

SIALKOT - The Civil Lines Police on Monday claimed to have arrested the accused involved in the attack and subsequent vandalism at the camp office of Federal Information Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan situated at Christian Town. The accused were identified as Mian Tariq, Anwar and Idrees. The police have sent the accused behind the bars while further investigations are underway, said SP (Investigations) Nasir Munif Qureshi. Earlier, the Police registered a case against 50 unknown mobsters for attacking and ransacking the federal ministers office, while they were protesting against the 20 hour long daily power outages in Sialkot. The FIR No. 288/2011 was lodged by Malik Imtiaz, local PPP leader of village Chak Barieneywala-Bajwat, under Sections 147, 149, 427 and 452 PPC, stating that more than 50 unknown armed mobsters attacked and plundered the Office of Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan. According to the FIR, the attackers hurled stones, broke furniture and tore the giant portraits of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Dr Firdous Ashiq.
