A Ramadan package worth Rs.2 billion was approved by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet at a meeting presided over by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. This subsidy package has essential food items at cheaper rates. This scheme will begin on June 23; 17 essential items will be sold through the Utility Stores Corporation (USC). About 120,000 tons of wheat flour will be supplied to the USC which will sell at Rs.6 per kg cheaper than the normal rate. About 80,000 tons of ghee and oil will be available for Rs.10 per kg lower rate. In the same manner all other items will be cheaper.

USC has decided to reduce prices of 1000 more items, by giving up their profit of 5-10 percent and obtaining special discounts from brand name vendors and suppliers. We hope this year people of Pakistan will breathe easier.
