LAHORE - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said in order to meet the housing shortage, the government was focusing on constructing affordable housing units for low-income groups.

The prime minister was talking to a delegation of SP Tech (Private) Limited, led by its chairman Hans Wilhelmson. The PM was given a detailed briefing on the technical and financial aspects of the low-cost housing in Pakistan. He was informed that the country was facing a shortfall of more than three million housing units, with demand in urban areas increasing at a faster pace.

The prime minister said the government was focusing on constructing affordable housing units for low-income groups. He said housing was an important human need and it related to other societal issues like provision of employment, transportation, education and health facilities.
