LAHORE - Giligit-Baltistan Governor Ch Barjees Tahir has assured that election on June 8 would be fair and free with no intervention and the party emerging winner in the polls would be asked to form the government.

Talking to the media after attending an award ceremony at Govt College for Women GulbargSaturday, Barjees Tahir said Imran Khan wasted time of the nation in protest.

It is no secret that Iman Khan cried a lot on the rigging allegations but nothing came out from inside, he said, adding that the statement of Nadra chairman on ballots verification is quite clear which has taken wind out of the political sails of Imran Khan.

To a question on the AJK government, he said AJK is being governed by a Constitution since 1974 and under the constitution President and the PM of Azad Kashmir are elected persons therefore Pakistan government cannot interfere in their affairs. When a question on the no trust against AJK Prime Minister in 2013 was asked, he said the then prime minister of Pakistan did not support that motion and it was Nawaz Sharif’s democratic vision which enabled the government to complete the five years term.

Earlier addressing at the ceremony, the governor said that the PML-N government regards education vital to developing a welfare society and after 18th Amendment education has come under the provinces which need do work for the promotion of education. Chairman Idara Faroghe Taleem, Tayyab Virk, Principal Queen Mary College, Prof Dr Irfana Maryam, Principal Government College Dr Farzana Saleem and senior journalists also spoke on the occasion.
