Dar seeks foreign investment in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has urged the friendly countries to benefit from investment opportunities in Pakistan, as the country offers unique strategic location, attractive investment policies with lucrative incentives, huge comparative advantage and dedicated skilled and cheap labour force.
He said the government through its prudent and investment friendly economic policies has opened up various sectors of economy for investment. Ishaq Dar said the government took bold decisions to stabilize the national economy.
He made these remarks during a dinner hosted by Board of Investment in the honor of foreign diplomats and prominent business community on late Friday night to highlight the potential of investment opportunities and incentives/facilities available in the Pakistan. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar graced the investment dinner along with Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the PM on National Security & Foreign Affairs. The Ambassadors of USA, UK, Argentina, Italy, Qatar and commercial counsellors have also been participated in the dinner.
The finance minister addressed the audience and explained the economic indicators, growth rate, investment policy and conducive business environment in Pakistan.  
Dr Miftah Ismail, Minister of State/Chairman, BOI welcomed the diplomats & business community and briefing about the objectives of the gathering & enhancing the diplomatic relations as well trade & investment promotion. Secretary BOI Iftikhar Babar gave a detailed presentation focusing on investment climate and investment opportunities available in Pakistan. He highlighted the strengths, promising economic outlook of Government of Pakistan and invited investors to invest in Pakistan. He informed that Standard & Poor’s upgraded Pakistan’s ranking from stable to positive, whereas Moody’s upgraded Pakistan’s ranking from stable to positive. He stated that government has taken the dual challenges of terrorism and energy crisis head and significant improvements can be seen on both the fronts.


At the end, Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the PM on National Security & Foreign Affairs thanked the foreign diplomats, commercial counsellors, federal ministers and businessmen to spare their valuable & precious time to attend the investment dinner.
