LAHORE - Pakistan team head coach Waqar Younis has praised the lively Lahorites who accorded historic warm welcome to the host and guest teams and termed it a remarkable one.

"The welcome we got here at the Gaddafi Stadium by lively Lahorites was hard to control emotions. Your emotions are different when you play in front of your own crowd and I told the players they have to concentrate on the game," said Waqar while talking to the reporters after his team’s historic first T20 international victory.

"We are all proud of Lahorites, we are all proud of our nation," he said of a disciplined crowd. Waqar also appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the government in convincing Zimbabwe to come to Pakistan. "It is a big achievement on part of both the PCB and the government that the Zimbabwe cricket team came here," he said.

About Pakistan team’s convincing victory in the first T20I which was played at the home ground after a gap of six years, the coach said: "It's an icing on the cake when we won, in fact, it is a good achievement."

He believes the team is missing off spinner Saeed Ajmal as it makes a belated return to playing international fixtures at home. "I don't think so you will find another Ajmal in near future, it's definitely a thing which is missing," he said and added: "You have to bring on youngsters and we have two to three youngsters like Imad Wasim, he is another find."

He also urged the crowd to be patience and show the world that they were well-disciplined and peace loving nation. "We have to keep patience. The crowd might face some difficulty while coming to the ground but the way whole Lahore watched this match and enjoyed it, hats off to them. I hope they will remain patience and present a positive image of the country to the entire world."
