The use of iodised salt reduces risks of several chronic diseases like throat infections, pregnancy problems, dead foetus, deafness and many others, among people, said DOC Rayasat Ali.

Talking to Salt Association members, he said that awareness about iodized salt should be highlight to ordinary people of and no ignorance in this matter would be accepted.

He said that iodized salt was major ingredient in food for good health and government was doing its role for providing iodized salt in local shops.

He also called upon the factory owners and traders to sell only iodised salt to people. He warned that if he found any complain against factory or small unit owner he would take action as per law.

Micro Nutrition Initiative Zonal Manager M Aftab briefed about the iodized and non iodized salt on the occasion.
