PCB body meets again to shortlist coaching candidates

LAHORE The Pakistan Cricket Boards (PCB) committee for coach selection met on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Intikhab Alam to shortlist the coaching candidates here at the National Cricket Academy, it is reliably learnt. In the meeting Intikhab and Zaheer Abbas were present while the third member Col (r) Naushad was absent due to his engagement with the Pakistan team at UAE, the source added. The two failed to reach the consensus and now they will meet Thursday (today), after the consultation with Col Naushad, to shortlist the final candidates list to present to the PCB chief for approval before the Governing Boards meeting to be held on November 29. It is worth mentioning here that the PCB had earlier issued additional advertisement for more candidates giving candidature date of November 18 of this. As many as 15 candidates including three foreigners have applied for the coaching post. Earlier PCB chief Zaka Ashraf had hinted at hiring three coaches, batting, bowling and fielding, for team to boost players performance in the all three format of games, along with head coach. Earlier the committee has shortlisted the names of local Sabih Azhar and Aaqib Javed and two foreign coaches Australian Dean Jones and Dave Whatmore. Now times will tell that who will become Pakistans head coach. The Pakistan Cricket Board chief doing his best to lure the international teams to tour Pakistan and in this regard the interior minister Rehman Malik on Tuesday announced the formation of National Security Task Force to ensure security for the foreign teams visit to the country, during the first One-day international held between the Pakistan-India blind cricket teams.
