Justice Ibadur Rehman of Lahore High Court Multan bench admitted a writ petition No.14019/2013 against former federal minister and Ambassador to US Sherry Rehman and fixed December 5, 2013 as the date for hearing.

The petitioner Fahim Akhtar Gill has challenged the cancellation of an FIR registered against Sherry Rehman under section 295-C (Blasphemy law) by an area magistrate Kashif Rashid Bangash. The petition was filed under article 199 of the constitution 1973 and section 561-A CRPC.

The petitioner prayed that Sherry Rehman used derogatory remarks about Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) in a talk show of a private TV channel on November 30, 2011 and a case No.44/2013 was registered against her on the order of Supreme Court of Pakistan on January 22, 2013. However, the area magistrate cancelled the FIR on April 5,2013 following the report of SP (Investigations) Ghulam Shabbir Jafari who stated the case was false and baseless. The plaintiff made RPO Multan, SP (Investigations), SP (Cantt), SHO Police station Chehalyak and area magistrate Kashif Rashid Bangash party in this case.

SUBSIDISED ATTA: In a bid to offer relief to price hike-stricken citizens, the Punjab Government has decided to give Rs15 subsidy on 20-kg atta bag at sasta bazaars. The atta bag being sold in open market at Rs. 780 will be available at 765 at sasta bazaars. It may not be out of place to mention here that the Punjab Government has decided to set up sasta bazaars across the province and these bazaars will be open three days a week.

In Multan, the bazaars are set up in Mumtazabad, Madni Chowk, Bagh Langy Khan and Shamasabad areas and traders of vegetables, fruits, edibles and other daily use items are convinced by the district administration to set up their stalls in these bazaars. In order to facilitate the bazaars, the district administration has allowed tractor trollies bringing commodities to these bazaars to operate in urban areas during day time.

It is learnt that the district administration will issue special passes to the drivers of the trolleys.

Ch Sultan takes charge: Eminent local political elder belonging to AJK’s ruling PPP Chaudhry Sultan Mehmood assumed the charge as Deputy Administrator Mirpur Municipal Corporation, it was officially declared.

AJK Prime Minister Ch Abdul Majeed ordered the induction of Sultan Chaudhry, formerly a close associate of his (Prime Minister Majeed) strong political rival former Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry. The newly-inducted Deputy Administrator Sultan Mehmood took the charge of his office Friday afternoon where he was brought in a big procession of the party activists and supporters.

City Administrator Ghulam Rasool Awami received him at the Municipality’s office complex on arrival.
