9,459 vehicles barred from entering highways

Islamabad - The National Highways & Motorway Police barred thousands of different types of unfit vehicles from plying on highways and motorways.
During a campaign against the unfit vehicles, 9,459 motor vehicles in total were barred from entering highways and motorways, says a press release issued here on Sunday. According to details, Motorway Zone (Peshawar–Lahore) restricted entry of 810 unfit vehicles, whereas on national highways starting form Peshawar to Lahore, Lahore to Rahim Yar Khan and RYK to Karachi, a total of 3,963, 3,091 and 1,573 unfit vehicles were barred from entering the highway respectively.
Furthermore, 10 and 12 unfit vehicles were barred from entering Murree–Islamabad dual carriageway and Costal Highway respectively.
Inspector General NH&MP Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema said that action against unfit vehicles would continue and unfit vehicles would not be allowed to ply on highways and motorways in any case to save precious lives of commuters.
