SARGODHA - Amidst death of another infant raising death toll to 20 in the last six days, Sargodha Division Health Services Director Dr Najamul Hassan has assumed the additional charge of medical superintendent of Divisional Headquarters Hospital.

Dr Iqbal Sami has been suspended on Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif’s orders. The decision was taken on the deaths of newborns in DHQ Hospital Sargodha.

 The Punjab government has sought legal opinion from the Law Ministry for the apprehension of former MS Dr Iqbal Sami and others responsible for the deaths. It also called instant report from Dr Najamul Hassan on the recent situation and details about health and other technical facilities.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Medical Association Sargodha President Dr Sikandar Hayat Warraich said that the newborns’ deaths were not a result of negligence of any doctor or medical staff in DHQ Hospital Sargodha.

He added that a high-level committee of PMA was also probing the matter and findings would be brought to public and the government soon.

Promotions linked to loan recovery:  The promotion of Cooperative Department staff has been linked to 100 percent loan recoveries till December 31.

Punjab Provincial Secretary Cooperative Babar Hayat Tarar on Saturday presiding over a meeting of Cooperative Bank officers at Circuit House Sargodha. The secretary said that a policy for the issuance of loans to farmers would be introduced for the purchase of chillers. He said that Cooperative Bank Sargodha had released loans valued 98 million rupees on gold and the limits of that loan was Rs140 million. He also directed the cooperative officers and officials to facilitate the applicants and also meet the recovery target.

On the occasion, Registrar Cooperative Punjab Haroon Rafiq said that the loan recovery target of 452 million rupees was fixed for 15 branches of Punjab Cooperative Bank in Sargodha Zone.The Punjab governnment had formulated visionary policies which wil bring prosperity in the province. The cooperatives secretary declared that all-out efforts would be made to resolve public problems and bring about prosperity.
