Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan has constituted two committees for initiating economic development in FATA and to look into the possibility of establishing warehouses, cold storages and industrial estates in tribal areas.

The first committee would be chaired by President TEVTA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nauman Wazir and comprised of Secretary P&D FATA, President TCCI, Shahid Rehman, Chartered Accountant, Dilroz Khan, Chief Executive FDA, Fida Muhammad Wazir, Ex-President TCCI, Riaz Arshad, Director SMEDA, Adeel Rauf, Provincial Chief SMEDA, Javed Khattak, Manager M&E, FDA,

Faheem Muhammad and Additional Secretary AI&C.

The second committee to look into the matters of establishment of warehouses and industrial estates in FATA would be headed by Chief Executive FATA Development Authority and comprised of Secretary P&D FATA as convener, Additional Secretary FIFA, Manager M&E FDA, President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI), President Tribal  Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TACCI), Representative of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment, Ex-member of KPCCI, Sajjad Ahmad, Ex-President KPCCI, Adeel Rauf, and Chartered Accountant, Saeed ur Rehman.

According to formal notification, the first committee would also review and analyze the prevailing business environment and regulatory framework for economic activities with a view to point out the impediments and regulate the investment and business opportunities in FATA.

The committee is mandated to suggest ways forward for bringing investment and business to FATA at an accelerated pace and suggest expeditious ways of introducing an improved business regulatory regime.

It will have the authority to recommend an incentive and rebate package for boosting investment in FATA.

The second committee would examine and recommend the prospects of establishing general purpose warehouses on trade routes in FATA for enhancing trade and promote exports. It will also have authority to review and propose rules, regulations and identify suitable locations for its establishment.

Furthermore, formulating the propose recommendations for creating economic activity in FATA based on the indigenous natural resources with special focus on improving the industrial estates is also the major tasks of the committee. The committees would present its report to governor within one month.
