Kidney centre to go operational by March next

Equipped with forty dialysis machines and first in South Punjab, 150 bed state-of- the-art Kidney Centre is likely to be inaugurated by March next.
The dialysis unit of the centre will be the biggest unit of all hospitals across Punjab.
Being established with Rs 233 million, the centre will have the facility of kidney transplant. Located next to under construction District Headquarters Hospital on Muzaffargarh Road, different machines were being installed in the centre currently. Executive Director Kidney Centre, Dr Rafique Anjum said this while talking to this agency here on Monday.
He informed that Punjab Special Secretary Health Syed Gulzar Shah, in a recent meeting in Lahore had pledged that the total amount of Rs 233 million would be provided for modern facilities of health to the masses of South Punjab at the centre. The ED stated that X-Ray and other machines were being installed while CT Scanner would reach Multan soon which was at present in Karachi.
As many as 625 staffers among them 259 gazetted and 376 non gazetted will render the services at the centre including doctors, paramedics, technicians, sanitary workers and others, Dr Anjum said and added that the centre would be not less than a blessing for South Punjab and other areas people as it( South Punjab) was a stone belt.
He said a modern lithotripter, a piece of medical equipment that uses sound waves on a patient to break up stones, would also be installed in kidney centre.
