Mamnoon seeks end to polio-related advisory

I Urges Muslims to counter anti-Islam propaganda

Islamabad - President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan would soon overcome the challenge of polio and urged the international community to end polio-related travel advisory about Pakistan.
He was talking to a delegation of Royal College of Physicians Britain in Islamabad yesterday. The President welcomed the decision to conduct MRCP examination in Pakistan. He said this would also benefit other countries of the region.
He hoped that holding of MRCP exams in Pakistan would not only benefit the Pakistani doctors but would also be beneficial for the doctors of the neighbouring countries.
The President appreciated the role of RCP for maintaining professional standards of physicians around the world and said that the institution is serving the humanity effectively.
In a separate meeting with Dr Shaukat Hameed Khan, Coordinator General COMSTECH who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the President stated that the government is committed for promotion of science and technology in the country and underlined the need to devise an effective strategy so that Pakistan continues to play a leading role in the realm of science and technology in Muslim World.
Dr Khan briefed the President about matters pertaining to COMSTECH.
Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Muslims around the world should work with unity and mutual harmony to counter propaganda against Islam and Muslims, adding the platform of Muslim World League (MWL) is appropriate in this regard.
The President said this while talking to Dr Abdullah Bin Abdul Mohsin Al-Turki, Secretary General Muslim World League (MWL) who called on him along with a delegation at the Aiwan-e-Sadr yesterday. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs & National Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousuf and Minister of State for Religious Affairs & National Harmony Pir Muhammad Amin-ul-Hasnat were also present on the occasion.
The President stated that there can be difference of opinion in Islam but no one is allowed to impose one’s views on others, adding in this regard Muslim World League can play a positive role to create harmony amongst the Muslims.
He said that sixty thousand Pakistanis have been martyred due to terrorism in Pakistan and emphasised that the country is working earnestly to eliminate this scourge.
The President underscored that there is a need to adopt other means as well along with force to end terrorism so that people are stopped from getting inclined towards extremism.
He said that Muslim countries should enhance mutual cooperation in the fields of trade, education and, science and technology so that attainment of progress and prosperity in the Muslim world could be possible.
Dr Abdullah Bin Abdul Mohsin Al-Turki while seconding the views of the President stated that MWL is endeavouring to end extremism and ignorance.
