An elderly couple that was tortured by police in Multan called on Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif here Thursday. Flanked by their daughter Madiha, Muhammad Idrees and his wife Naseem Bibi shared their ordeal with the chief minister who assured them of all-out support to get their land retrieved. The chief minister formed a probe body to report within seven days. He also set up a body consisting of Babar Hayat Tarar, P&D member, and senior Board of Revenue members to report by 8:00am today to find a solution to the problem. The chief minister ordered health officials to provide best treatment to their daughter. The chief minister has dismissed DSP concerned, SHO, SI and ASI and said the people responsible for this tragic incident have no right to remain in service. “They should be ashamed. Elderly man crushed to death
A 60-year-old man was crushed to death under a bus near the General Bus Stand in Lorry Adda police precincts. The victim was identified as Muhammad Shakeel, a hawker in the area. He was walking alongside a road to sell newspapers when a bus ran over him. He died on the spot. The police reached the spot within no time and shifted the body to a hospital. Woman dies mysteriously
A woman was found dead at a small house in Ichhra police precincts on Thursday night. The body was moved to the morgue for an autopsy. An official of the Edhi ambulance service said that the body of a 30-year-old woman was lying on a charpoy inside the small house located in Rahmanpura as they reached the spot. 20-year old found dead
A 20-year-old man was found dead alongside a footpath in the Shalimar police precincts on Thursday morning, police said. The body was moved to the morgue. Ghurki’s son booked for firing
Police on Thursday registered a criminal case against the son of PPP leader Samina Khalid Ghurki allegedly for firing warning shots in front of a house in Lahore’s Defense neighbourhood. The incident took place in DHA (Phase-IV) after Wednesday midnight. The FIR was registered on the complaint of Ali Huzaifa Khan. The complainant told the police that Sufiyan Ghurki resorted to aerial firing outside his house and threatened his family of dire consequences for pursuing another case against him. According to the complainant, Ghurki had developed some monetary dispute with him. The police were investigating the claims of the victim family. However, no arrest was made yet.–Staff Reporter
