SADIQABAD - The birthday ceremony of Sadiqabad city was celebrated with fervour. It was organised at Askari Park under the auspices of Sadiqabad Tehsil Municipal Committee (TMC) and Bazme Akbar here the other day.

Prince Qamaruz Zaman Abbasi, grandson of Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi, and renowned motivational speaker Qasim Ali Shah was the chief guests. Thousands of people belonging to all walks of life attended the ceremony.

Addressing the participants, Prince Qamaruz Zaman Abbasi highlighted the role of his grandfather in Pakistan movement. Qasim Ali Shah advised the participants to be polite and respectful to their parents and elders. He termed his participation in the ceremony an honour for him. He also lauded Ch Akmal Shahid and TMC Chairman Ch Shafiq Pappa for organising the event.

Artists and folk singers including Allan Faqir, Dadli Mai, Zareena Mai, Muhammad Bakhsh Ahar and DJ Shez Rana performed on the occasion.

Ch Akmal Shahid and TMC Chairman Ch Shafiq Pappa in their address gave the idea of Pollution-free Sadiqabad and vowed to make all-out efforts for cleanliness in the city. They pledged to plant more and more trees to overcome pollution. The objective of organising such events is to pay tribute to the great personalities who had played a key role in building the city.

Provincial Minister Ch Shafiq, PML-N minority wing leader Saith Kanji Ram and others were also present on the occasion and they praised the efforts made by organisers of the event. The participants raised “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Sadiqabad Zindabad” slogans.
