CIA police on Friday claimed to have smashed 9 gangs of criminals by arresting their 34 members involved in armed robberies and auto-theft. The police also seized looted cash and valuables worth Rs 17.5million from their possession. SP CIA Usman Ijaz Bajwa while addressing a press conference at his office on Friday said that the arrests were made during a special crackdown on the street criminals. He said that different police teams were taking part in the crackdown launched across the metropolis. “We hope the crime graph will go down after the arrests of these gangs. The CIA police are directed to step up the crackdown against the elements involved in street crimes,” police official Bajwa said. According to him, the police also seized firearms, nine motorcycles, and 52 mobiles from the arrested bandits. The suspects were also produced before the media teams in handcuffs. They were wanted to the police in several cases of murder, armed robberies, and motor vehicle snatching, the official said. –Staff Reporter
