Chinese delegation visits RCCI to explore business opportunities

RAWALPINDI-A six member Chinese delegation visited the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) amid tight security here on Friday. The purpose of their visit was to explore opportunities for business collaborations in different sectors including Mining, Construction and gem stones.

Chinese delegation during their meeting with President RCCI Malik Shahid Saleem expressed desire for joint ventures and said China offered huge trade opportunities to Pakistani business community and they should visit China to tap all untapped areas of promoting trade and exports.

Malik Shahid Saleem assured the delegation of full support and assistance for joint ventures and investment. He said Chinese investors should focus on energy, information technology, agriculture, pharmaceutical, marble, gem and jewellery and other sectors in Pakistan to reap lucrative returns. He said CPEC would be mutually beneficial for Pakistan and China and it would ensure level playing field for the businessmen and investors of both countries. He also urged that the Labour-intensive industry from China under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) shall be relocated in Pakistan to boost the local employment. RCCI will provide all information and said: “CPEC is a mega development initiative and a game changer for Pakistan and the region as well. He said Rawalpindi is a major city that falls in the northern part of CPEC project that is why there exists a huge potential to boost trade and other business activities in the city. He invited Chinese investors for joint ventures in different sectors under CPEC Special Economic Zones.

Following the visit of the Chinese delegation’s visit, Rawalpindi police beefed up the security in the city. Special pickets were erected at all the entry and exit points of city. The troops of Pakistan Army and police have checked the vehicles thoroughly at Joint Check Posts on Peshawar Road, Airport Road and on Adiala Road. However, no suspect was arrested during the checking.
