Federal Power Minister Omar Ayub Khan has said that Advanced Metering Infrastructure system and Aerial Bundled Cables will be installed to control power theft.

In an interview here on Saturday, Omar Ayub Khan said that the newly-introduced system would not only stop energy theft, but would also ensure real-time meter reading.

He said that the power division had chalked out a plan to control electricity theft and increasing the capacity of generation and transmission of electricity.

The minister said that the power division was engaging with the provinces on creation of a special task force with the support of provincial governments, local authorities and law enforcement agencies for crackdown against electricity theft.
