ISLAMABAD  -  National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday strongly rejected the baseless allegations regarding torture cells in its prisons and said it presented every accused before the court for getting his remand according to the law.

NAB spokesman said no one has complained of torture, neither called their prison a torture cell nor made a demand for a medical examination, said a press release.

NAB investigated every accused on scientific basis, preserved his self-respect and acted according to law. All the stories of torture and torture cells were part of the aggressive and organised propaganda to stop NAB from taking legal action.

NAB was working independently as per law and without taking any pressure as per law as it believed in the policy of non-violence. He said there was no need for torture during investigation of any white colour crime as it depended on documentary evidence.

A few days back NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal visited NAB Lahore where he inspected the jail and issued instructions that the accused should be given facilities more than given in the jail manual.

NAB had hired the services of a full-time doctor and medicines were managed immediately on the advice of the doctor.

NAB wanted that criticism about it should be avoided as it was not an institution of an individual but of a nation and baseless allegations could damage its reputation.
