Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) Chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi has been arrested by the police from his residence in Lahore on Friday night.

Sources within the police have confirmed Rizvi’s arrest. The detaining of the TLP leader comes just days before the TLP’s planned public rally in Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi on November 25.

According to the sources, the police personnel carried out an operation on Lahore’s Multan Road and arrested at least 50 members of the politico-religious party, including their chief Khadim Rizvi .

Earlier this month, TLP had led a protest, which lasted for days and included several other political parties. The sit-ins were against the Supreme Court’s decision to release of Asia Bibi, a Christian woman on death row since 2010, acquitting her of blasphemy charges.
