RAWALPINDI - A huge fire erupted in Model Bazaar located on Peshawar Road on Tuesday. Firefighters of Rescue 1122 and other civic bodies rushed to the site and extinguished fire. Similarly, fire brigades of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board also assisted Rescue 1122 fire fighters. “As many as four shops and 15 cabins (kiosks) have turned into ashes” said a Rescue 1122 spokesman.
Clouds of thick smoke could be seen even from miles away. Massive traffic jam occurred on Peshawar Road causing troubles for commuters and pedestrians. Traffic wardens, following order of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Taimoor Khan, put their efforts to control traffic rush. According to Rescue 1122 spokesman, the reason behind the fire was carelessness by steel fixers in the Bazaar.
Police also arrived on the scene and started investigation.
