KARACHI - Pakistan Air Force and Sindh won boys and girl's team titles respectively in the Hasan Musa Junior (under 15) Squash Championships which ended in Hyderabad on Thursday after favourite Punjab faltered at the last hurdle in the finals at Hyderabad Gymkhana court, according to information received here. PAF boys defeated Punjab in two straight matches to nil in the final and Sindh registered a major shock when they defeated odd-on favourite Punjab girls by two matches to one. Zila Nazim Hyderabad Kawar Naveed Jamil was the chief guest at the medal ceremony and also present at the ceremony was Syed Ashraf Ali Shah, co-ordinator Sindh Sports Board (SSB) and Sindh Squash Association secretary Engineer Tahir Khanzada.   The Sindh Squash Association with the help of Hyderabad District SA had organised the championships in memory of Hasan Musa, a well known international squash organiser. Hasan Musa who also held general manager sports office with the PIA was shot dead in the car parking shed of the PIA Jahanagir Khan Roshan Squash complex on Kashmir Road many years ago. Punjab which had emerged as favorites in both boys and girls events shockingly suffered unexpected defeats and failed to clinch the two titles which they deserved after winning all the matches in the round robin league. In round robin league stage of the boy's competition, had defeated PAF and was expected to win the final but they slumped at the final hurdle. Punjab girls had defeated Sindh only on Wednesday in the first league match of the two team competition but lost in the second match which was declared as final. In the boys final, Punjab suffered two back-to-back defeats to give the title to the PAF. Balochistan took third place in the four team event when they defeated Sindh by 2-1 margin for the third match play off. Mehek Shakeel and Ayesha Zafar played crucial role in the final for Sindh after their star player Habiba Khan who had won the individual title slumped to defeat in the second match of best of three contest.
