OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Panic gripped the major part of a market comprising 200 shops when several participants of a marriage party opened indiscriminate aerial firing at Yohanaabad area of Nishtar Town police precincts on Sunday. An eyewitness and shopkeeper said around four vehicles filled with firearms and thousands of bullets while bearing official numbers - LWA-9111, LEB-6332, LEG-1704 and LXL-5903 - were included in marriage fleet. He said they opened fires as a result of which around 200 shopkeepers shut down their shuttles and hardly managed to escape from the scene. According to him, a vehicle named Nishtar Town Chairman Price Control Committee was also among the vehicles. Earlier, a marriage party of Aslam Shakirs son arrived in Yohanaabad from Bagrian Chowk, Green Town where they sprayed thousands of bullets without any fear of police or other law enforcement agencies. We phoned police concerned but none of them picked the phone. Later, we phoned on 15 Emergency Police, another shopkeeper said, adding policemen approached the scene after half an hour and collected the empties.
