OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE A bodybuilder who thrashed policemen not less than eight times was arrested in Liaqatabad on Sunday. SHO Inspector Bashir Niazi has, however, refused to include Section 7ATA in the FIR against the bodybuilder, despite Model Town DSP Shahzada Saleems directions. Badal was habitual of thrashing the cops. A Muhafiz Squad signaled him to stop near Bahaar Colony as he looked drunk but he reportedly thrashed them again. The accused has thrashed and tortured policemen for not less than seven times but no tangible action was taken against him. On Sunday, he was taken into police custody after he physically assaulted the cops. Police sources said SHO Basheer Niazi, former strong member of Omer Virk-led CIA, allegedly refused to honour the directions of his immediate boss, DSP Saleem, over the issue of sections in FIR. The DSP opinioned, the accused should be given a proper 'lesson but the SHO maintained as no firearms or even a sharp edged weapon was recovered from his custody so section 7ATA cannot be included in case against him, they added. The policemen, however, intervened and hushed up the mater. Police have lodged an FIR against him on charges of thrashing policemen and traveling while taking drugs and alcohol. Further investigations are underway.
