Extending his gratitude to the chancellor, vice chancellor and syndicate of AWKU on their decision, he said he considered himself a freshman in the politics and public welfare, so he thought he was not entitled to this exalted degree. As far as the establishment of AWKU and its services of spreading the beacon of higher education to far-flung areas is concerned, the chief minister said, it was a part of his duty as chief executive of the province to help it. He said he did not consider it fair to be bestowed upon a PhD degree only on the basis of a single decision of establishing AWKU, adding that the credit for establishing this esteemed university went to the VC, his team and the provincial departments concerned.
