KBP welcomes fertiliser import

Our Staff reporter HAFIZABAD - While appreciating the decision of the federal government to import 0.7 million tonnes of Urea fertilizer, the Kissan Board Gujranwala Division President has stressed the need for timely import of the fertilizers for ensuring maximum wheat production in the country. Addressing a press conference here, KBP Gujranwala Division Amanullah Chattha said that due to scarcity of urea fertilizer, the growers were too much disappointed. He said that last year urea was sold at Rs760 per bag but at present it is being made available at Rs2,000 per bag which is beyond the reach of middle class growers not to speak of small farmers. He said that import of Urea be expedited and transparent arrangements should be made to make it available at reasonable rates to the farmers so that to maximize food output.
