OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Like other provinces of the country, three-day National Immunization Campaign against Polio will start from Monday (today) during which more than 16 million children of up to 5 years of age will be administered polio drops. Anti-Polio campaign will continue till Wednesday. Children from the age of 6 months to 5 years will also be given vitamin A dose in addition to polio drops. The Punjab Health Department has constituted 31960 mobile teams that will visit from door to door to administer polio drops. According to the spokesman of Punjab Health Department, the services of motorway police have also been obtained for administration of polio drops to the traveling children and for this purpose vaccination teams have been deputed on the interchanges of motorways and tool plazas of highways so that no children could be deprived of polio drops. Moreover, this facility has also been made available at all teaching as well as DHQ/THQ hospitals, health centres and dispensaries across the province. He informed that vaccination teams have also been stationed at all railway stations, bus terminals and exits of cities to administer the polio drops. He appealed to the parents to get their children administered polio drops for protecting their future from permanent disability. professional allowa-nce: The Social Security Doctors Association Punjab has warned the government of launching a protest against the decision of giving Rs 3,000 to Rs 3 ,500 pay raise instead of the health professional allowance (HPA) announced by the Punjab Chief Minister. Addressing a press conference here at Lahore Press Club on Sunday, SSDA General Secretary Dr Safdar Hussain Baloch flanked by other officebearers and representatives of Young Doctors Association said that all chapters of SSDA have rejected the increment and were pressing the justified demand of giving HPA on the same pattern applicable for doctors of other hospitals. Dr Baloch said that the institution was giving best healthcare facilities to the labourers and their families. He urged the government to give due rights to the health professionals working at social security hospitals. He warned the government of a strong protest if social security doctors were not given HPA.
