LAHORE: Founder and Executive Director of Akhuwat Dr Muhammad Amjad Saqib has been invited to deliver lectures on Akhuwat’s model of poverty alleviation in renowned universities including Oxford University, Kings College, Manchester University, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), and Cambridge University.

Akhuwat, the world’s largest interest free microfinance programme, has gained international recognition for its unique model of poverty alleviation which is successfully being implemented by the people of Pakistan. The Akhuwat model is being taught in various universities all over the world including Harvard University, USA.

Dr Saqib will deliver lectures at various forums organised by members of the civil society. Groups, eager to spread the message of Akhuwat to more people, have already laid foundations for local chapters of ‘Friends of Akhuwat’ in different cities across UK. Last year, Dr Saqib was invited to Harvard University to discuss the Akhuwat model. Akhuwat has disbursed loans worth Rs 5.3 billion to over 350,000 poor families in Pakistan.–PR
