The protesters told the media that Investigation Officer M Iqbal had declared Akram, an accused nominated in the case, as innocent in the absence of the complainant. They alleged that the police were patronising the accused who were still at large and threatening the complainants of dire consequences. They also said that the police pressuring the victims for arbitration with the perpetrators.

As per the case details, Munawar Hussain of Sawan Khan village married Rasheedan of Kakary village at their will some one month ago in the court.

They were going back from the court. When they reached Baldia Chowk, the bride’s father Sher Muhammad alias Gul Sher along with others kidnapped the couple and took them to Kakary village where they opened pointblank fire at the abductees killing both of them on the spot, and managed to escape.

The protesters demanded that the officials concerned especially chief justice of Pakistan and Punjab chief minister should ensure provision of justice to them and take a stern against the policemen.
