KARACHI - Omair mustered 468 points in Amateur category after the completion of third round in the Second PTBF National Ranking Tenpin bowling Championship to put himself in a winning position Wednesday. Omair is closely followed by Khanan with 462 pins and eight pins further adrift at third position is Ameen at 454 pins. It could be anybody’s title but Omair has slight edge. In females category Kanwal with total of 349 pins is leading the pack. She is closely followed in the second by Salwa with 302 pins, while a deaf player Irum on third with 290 pins. Addressing the players chief guest CEO Virtual Axis Khawaja Ahmed said it was a an honour and relief for him that such response was given to the event. He said it was his very first effort and he was satisfied with the outcome so far. He showed his gratitude to Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation secretary Ijaz Ur Rehman for posing confidence in him and allocating such a high-profile event to him. He announced that very soon they would organise an international level event in collaboration with the PTBF, which would be the biggest ever event of country’s history and would signal the return of international sports to Pakistan. Khawaja said they would organise ranking championships and would construct bowling alleys in all the major cities. While sharing his views, Ahmed Shakhani country’s senior most bowler said: “I had played in majority of international events, but I had never witnessed such an organised and well-behaved event. I want to congratulate organisers especially Khawaja Ahmed and Ijaz Ur Rehman for putting such a wonderful event.” Media event will be held today (Thursday) in which 16 teams from different media groups will participate. –Mohsin Ali
