LAHORE  - PTI Punjab chapter has warned the government of launching a protest drive from November 1st if it fails to bring down the prices of electricity, fuel and gas to the pre-election rates.

PTI Punjab President Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry gave this warning on Wednesday while addressing a Press conference at party’s Provincial Secretariat. Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed and other party leaders were also present on this occasion.

He said that inflation had broken all records in the last four months and the price of flour given to farmer was Rs 30 per kg while it was being sold in open market at Rs 47 per kg.

Similarly, the Roti is being sold at Rs 8 and Naan at Rs 12, making it impossible for the poor people with a moderate size family to fulfil their basic food requirements.

He said that the cost of living has gone up so much because the government had started printing currency notes and borrowing money from IMF to continue to meet State expenses and luxurious lifestyles of the ruling elite and their foreign trips.  He warned the government that the masses would rise up against the rulers if Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif made more deals with Washington to devalue the rupee and take further foreign loans during his US trip.

Mian Mehmood Rasheed on this occasion countering queries regarding his brother, Hamid Rasheed’s promotion in LDA claimed that his brother had been working for 20 years in the department and this promotion was due, however, certain quarters were maligning him in an effort to pressurise him for not raising his voice of protest from the Opposition benches in the Punjab Assembly.

Earlier, a meeting was held at PTI Punjab office, chaired by provincial President regarding the Local Bodies polls.

The meeting announced that PTI central President Javed Hashmi, Vice Chairman, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and central Secretary General, Jehangir Khan Tareen would visit Faisalabad on November 4th and 5th.
